At War With Self - Acts of God (2007)Sluggo's Goon Music

On the occasion of the second album, Glenn took a decision to infuse with new blood. As usual, he took on most duties and picked up many instruments: acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, e-bow, and additionally - synths, string arrangements and programming. Similar burden lain on Damon Trotta's shoulders who also contributed to a few track on the debut. Here he is responsible for bass guitars, vocals, synths, resonator guitars, e-bow, didgeridoo and programming. You can remind him from such groups and artists like Non-Fiction, System Addict, Vehicle, Bernie Worell and Isaac Hayes. Other musicians are: Mark Sunshine (vocals), James VonBuelow (guitars, programming), Dave Archer (synths), Steve Decker and Manfred Dikkers (drums).

At the very beginning, I wish to write that "Acts of God" is instrumentally richer than the debut. This album is ambient, psychedelic, jazzy and with a pinch of electronics at the same time. The album is mainly instrumental, but some tracks are covered with Mark Sunshine's singing whose manner is similar to Michael Sadler's. An atmosphere is melancholic at some fragments, but it is listed into the instrumental concept and doesn't discourage us to further listening to. Some people consider such a music a strange thing, but no sane person could think that a chemist would be able to compose something normal, straightforward and predictable, haha.

"Acts of God" includes atypical tones for atypical people with a music at decelerated capacity. I am totally sure that it could be used as a soundtrack to David Lynch's movies, since it is sedative, soothing, relaxing music and simultaneously avantgarde. It reminds me of the music dissolved in a chemical solution. Listening to "Acts of God" can turn out to be a therapy for spiritual refreshing, but I am pretty sure that all chemists should take heed of Glenn's music to improve and speed up their research, haha.
