This UK born guitarist is famous for his cooperation with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Geri Halliwell, Valerie Etienne (ex-Galliano vocalist) and many others. It means that Chanan isn't an average guitar player. Currently, he is writing a doctorate concerning a musical analysis of Frank Zappa's orchestral works. It is another evidence Mr. Hanspal is someone outstanding.
But the music, as always, is most important for the people. Please, be prepared for a large discrepancy of music genres. Chanan's stuff is mainly based on improvised jazz/fusion fundaments with a pinch of progression and shredding. Mr. Hanspal excellently uses a modern studio technology, e.g. unique samples from films. Each of guitar and bass parts is filled up with a right dose of intellectual game. His music can be a bit atmospheric and slightly twisted on the other hand. One cannot help noticing that Hanan's music is avant-garde in a way. The music is temporarily played laid back and absolutely convention-free. In my opinion, there is no madness in Chanan's music, however playing on tones is obviousness here. I also think that jazzy and freaky are most proper words to characterize his stuff. Yeah, Mr. Hanspal is a composed freak, haha! He is powerhouse of instrumental ideas and has a gift for transfering them to the guitar.
Mr. Hanspal is the best example of a man who can apply theory in practice. He is a kind-hearted scholar always holding his guitar at hand. A rest with "Mad Jazz Guitar" is a real pleasure, that's why I am pretty sure that Chanan has a PhD in ih his pocket!
