L'Hermite - s/t (EP) (2003)Frying Pan Music

L'Hermite is an Argentinian band founded in 2002 by a guitarist, guitar teacher and session musician - Carlos A. Ferrari. Some of you can make his name think of two other bands - Siszard (heavy metal) and Rescate Emotivo (pop). Carlos lists his guitar influences from George Lynch, Vinnie Moore, through Jake E. Lee to Steve Vai.

But his guitar style isn't similar to any of aforesaid instrumentalists. A whole album was recorded by Carlos himself with the exception of a track "Diluvio Eterno" ("Endless Deluge") performed with a guest appearance of Ezequiel Marzelli (programming, clean guitar solo), Marcelo Napolitano (bass solo) and Ariel Rota (piano solo). The stuff is full of ballad-esque compositions with distorted tones. His music is smooth and atmospheric, moreover it is filled with warm emotions. These feelings induce sleep and make the world turn at slow capacity. Such a music is good to be chilled out, quietened and muffled. Yeah, Mr. Ferrari's music acts as a sleepscreen facilitating our contemplation moments.

Here are reigning only two instrumental rules: feelings over showing off and a hushed virtuosity over fast guitar madness. Yes, they are distinguishing features of this 4-track EP, so if you want to put to sleep a baby, L'Hermite's music is perfectly fit for it.
