Oddly called French band was founded in 1997 by three gentlemen: Christophe Godin (guitar), Ivan Rougny (bass guitar) and Jean-Pierre Frelezeau (drums). There is no doubt that the most recognizable musician out of France is Mr. Godin - the man well-known for his cooperation with another guitarist Pierrejean Gaucher (in a band 2G) and Freak Neil Inc. and playing in such groups like Temple (heavy pop) and Gnô (pop metal). It isn't strange that Christophe recorded an instructional video "Heavy Metal Fusion: les techniques", since he is a music teacher at E.T.M. in Geneva (Swiss Confederation).
I think that the trio can't take us by surprise, since there are a superiority of mid-tempos and atmospheric compositions modelled on fusion classics, though French instrumentalists cope with shredding patterns on "The Principles of Life" with no major obstacles. Obviously, you will be able easily to catch dynamic and melodious guitar parts plus acoustic diversities. Don't dread the excess of improvisations as no many of them are hearable on the album. French players are fantabulously harmonious and don't disturb themselves.
I am fully contented, because here is no instrumental redundance that could tire and discourage us to carry on listening to the debut. Thanks to keeping the proportion, we can loosen up and relish this stuff. If you like the music where a modern sound harmonizes with much more traditional sounding tones, you should enjoy "The Mörglbl Trio!!". In my modest opinion, the trio plays progressive metal with heavy and jazzy influences creating something like power fusion, haha.
