Mörglbl - Grötesk (2007)

I started to wonder if Mörglbl was going to be the funniest band in the world? I needn't convince a French trio's fans of the fact that their beloved musicians have decided on standing by the attitude initiated on two previous discs.

This time my CD player was graced by the third opening of creature called Mörglbl, haha. I don't want to flatter them unduly, since my over-positive review could have gone to their heads, haha. On the other hand, I have no doubt that fans who like joking will revel in listening to "Grötesk". Of cours, their instrumental trivialities being led by Mr. Godin are very cultured, whatever it can mean! They don't exaggerate the rapidity, however carve out unusual patters with their instruments. An important detail is that verbal jokes meet instrumental tricks and create a specific style for Mörglbl.

The French trio recorded the best produced album in their discography, so it would be a pity to lose sight of such an ingenious band. Beyond question it is a picky group in its freaky style. What style? I think that it can be described as developed progressive fusion genre with some innovative elements, but the stuff should appeal both to traditionalists and "experimenters". A French musicians act in a virtuosic niche, so I suppose this band will be easier spotted among other mediocre groups. If you are nuts about musical pranks, "Grötesk" arrives with a relief, so hit it off with a bit grotesque stuff, please!
